Since they refuse to pay her to be the “Telcom Cruise Director”, she concentrates her efforts in the areas of risk management, corporate operations management (including licensing and professional memberships and social activities), human resources, benefit planning, and meeting seminar planning. She directs Telcom Risk Management, which focuses on all claims, safety issues, education, training, risk management assessments and loss control programs. She coordinates the content and design of all advertising and marketing products and serves as editor for all Telcom publications. On a personal level, her favorite things other than Cowboys—specifically Troy Aikman, are her spoiled bischon dawg--Bella, my nieces and nephews (this Aunt thing is the way to go), and the “tiny condo” in Myrtle Beach. Technically, I am a customer of one of our customers—HTC—and might I say how fabulous their service is!

Cheri serves as a front-line claims advocate for all of our policyholders with all of our carriers. She also, serves as the assistant to the Company’s corporate officers in handling Shareholder and Board of Directors’ administrative functions. Cheri is the registrar for all policyholder data. Outside of work, her favorite activities include reading, gardening, cooking and caring for her two dogs. With her green thumb, there’s not a plant alive that she can’t grow, and she’s pretty good about reviving other people’s plants (so, we’ve heard from several folks in the office). She’s always a member of Telcom’s Social Committee not just because she is very thoughtful but because she makes fabulous desserts…and we love desserts around here. Occasionally, she even makes us homemade biscuits with the perfect flour that comes from somewhere in KS (hint to the KS folks). But most of all, she enjoys sharing these activities with her family—especially her grandkids.

As the CEO of the Company, Pete directs all aspects of Company operations and is ultimately responsible for finance, underwriting, risk management, and corporate functions. He maintains all regulatory partner and vendor relationships. He is responsible for the overall management of the Underwriting/Field Account Executives and development and maintenance of the insurance programs. He is often asked to speak and write on insurance matters for both the telecommunications and insurance industries. He also manages the insurance and risk management needs many of the NTCA members in Regions 4, 5, and 6. He and wife, Ryann, have two children that light up their lives: Alex-age 8 and Julianne- age 6. When not engaged with his family, he enjoys playing golf, doing anything that involves baseball (even coaching Little League), football (including some coaching for the local Warhawk team) or simply just being outside. He really believes that business and pleasure can mix on the golf course…call him and ask him to test that theory.

Sue is the supervisor for the Underwriting Department’s staff and manages the department’s workload to meet internal and external deadlines for both the policyholders and for the carriers. She also oversees the Directors and Officers Liability program for the NTCA members and assists in non-traditional telco-specific program underwriting. She has many years of insurance experience with the last 13 years at Telcom. She and her husband, Bill, have 3 sons (one who is proudly serving his country in Iraq) and 6 grandchildren. Her favorite activities include visiting the kids and grandkids, attending as many Redskins games as possible, camping… preferably at the beach… and of course, playing with her best buddy, Gus (a cute Boston Terrier).

Bonnie has over 20 years of insurance experience and is located in Central Wisconsin. She works primarily with Peter to develop and manage insurance programs for several associations. Her primary responsibilities include marketing, underwriting, and program development. Bonnie is happily married with 3 teenage children. When she’s not working, she is an active volunteer at her church and some local community organizations. As the primary taxi driver and cheerleader for her kids’ various events, she has no time for hobbies, but does enjoy singing at various events, writing, and reading—when she has a spare minute.

Joyce has worked for Telcom for about 13 years now, and her service territory includes all members in Regions 1, 2, 3, Ohio, and Indiana. When not traveling, she works from her home office on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. MD. She loves to travel for fun and for work. She meets with her member systems in their communities to discuss various insurance and risk management options available and also enjoys the various statewides. She proudly represents the Telcom program wherever she goes. When she’s not working, she enjoys kayaking on the creek, taking long walks along the shoreline, and “playing in the dirt” (flower beds). She especially loves it when the grandchildren visit each summer. She has 5 grandchildren currently. She enjoys reading a good book and gathering with friends from the “hood” on someone’s pier. Joyce enjoys photography and is frequently the one behind the camera at meetings.

Mike is responsible for managing all financial functions for the Company. This includes budgeting, accounting, investment opportunities, and all regulatory audits. He prepares all documents for the captive that are requested or required by regulatory authorities. Mike also analyzes the Company’s underwriting results and monitors surplus reserves for adequacy. Additionally, he is responsible for maintaining information technology internally. If you ever need a history expert, Mike is your man…the History channel could use him as a consultant. Perhaps more importantly, he’s the first one in everyday, and he makes a mean “pot of joe”. Mike’s favorite phrase at work is “No, Marilyn—it’s not in your budget”!

Janice supports the field and underwriting departments at Telcom, but mostly she works with Chris. To our insureds in Regions 7, 8, and 10 she is the person who provides excellent customer service. She is responsible for the creation, application, and processing of marketing and underwriting documents in her assigned area. Telcom insureds have come to know Janice as a key contact that bridges the underwriting and marketing efforts of the company. She is also the key contact for maintaining our agency management system of customer data. Janice, who has a new grandbaby, is the only girl in her house; her husband and sons reap the rewards of two of her hobbies—baking and gardening. FYI: If she ever offers you some of her pound cake, make sure you take a big piece. In her free time, she also enjoys reading mystery novels.

Chris is a Senior Account Executive serving all members in NTCA Regions 7, 8 and 10. He has a wealth of underwriting and marketing experience. Chris is a native Texan eager to continue Telcom’s established tradition of providing the best in local personalized, professional risk management and insurance services from his Bedford, Texas office. He assists his members with all their day-to-day insurance needs and strengthens the Greenbelt underwriting team in the completion of applications and binders, etc. He represents the Telcom program at NTCA functions, statewide, industry meetings and seminars throughout the southwest. Chris enjoys old maps, genealogy and family history, and he’s traced one family line back to the 12th century and another back to the 9th century. An avid walker, he takes his tennis shoes (in addition to his boots, which he says are not called “cowboy boots”) to most all meetings…got to get his 12 miles a week in. He and wife, Gail, have 2 dogs that were all rescued from local shelters: an Australian Sheppard named Baylor (Guess where he went to college?), and Willis, who looks a lot like Marmaduke. Chris just recently became a grandpa for the first time and is very excited about the adventures it will bring.

Beckie provides customer service to most of Peter’s accounts in Regions 4, 5, 6 and all of Kim Olson’s accounts in Region 9, AZ, and LA. She also provides customer service some of our broker partners, Stay Connected, and other affiliate accounts. Beckie assembles your policy binders. In her time away from the Telcom office, Beckie keeps busy with her husband, three children, and new grandbaby. Her interests include: bowling, golfing, billiards, and being a crazy football fan (Baltimore Raven’s Purple Friday works well with our Friday casual days). When she’s not participating or watching sports, she loves to travel, ride her ATV, play cards, read, garden, and do logic puzzles.

Kim began her insurance career in 1982 at Alliance Insurance Company in McPherson, Kansas—when she was merely a child. She gained valuable knowledge while there and progressed to working in the independent agency market as well as the captive agent market. Kim will continue to serve the members in Region 9, AZ, and add LA to her geographic area of representation. She is a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Service Representative of Austin, Texas. She is also a member of the National Association of Insurance Women, International. Kim has a daughter, Nicole, and son-in-law, Jacob. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, sewing, hiking, traveling, and most recently golfing (I hear she won the Women’s Closest to the Pin at an NTCA golf tournament).

Tisa joined the Telcom team in 2004, coming with more than 15 years of insurance experience. In addition to her duties as the first-line contact for the Directors and Officers Insurance program, she is also responsible for servicing some accounts in AR, GA, KS, KY, MO, OH, OK, PA, NE, NM, VA, and WV. She likes to ski, ride motorcycles, read, take long walks, exercise, and watch basketball—whenever possible. The family is now very busy with the kids and their sporting activities (track, basketball, and karate). They enjoy vacationing, trying to fill up their passports, and hopefully making it to Italy…one of these days.

Kim assists in the handling of all bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and underwriting and corporate finance programs and applications as well as general office needs. She is one of the two points of contact for IT and is one of the cheerful voices that greet you on Telcom’s incoming phone line. She efficiently catalogs all in-coming mail and serves as publication/resource librarian. She has been happily married for more than 30 years and has a wonderful son and daughter-in-law. She lives very close to the office, so in her time away from it, she enjoys selling and buying on ebay, playing with her dogs (she belongs to the Pug Club of MD), collecting everything, and watching the Redskins. Her latest claim to fame is that she won our office fantasy football league the past two years. In the Spring of 2010, she will become a grandma for the first time too.

Is there a lighthouse on the East Coast that Todd, his wife, Zee, and their dog, Zoey, haven’t seen and taken a picture of? Not likely. And soon, they will have visited most of the Great Lakes Lights as well. When they are not tracking down lighthouses, Todd, Zee, and Zoey foster dogs for the Montgomery County Humane Society and have been able to find forever homes for 5 lucky dogs to date. Todd is a huge Buffett, that’s Jimmy Buffett, fan and an active member of the Chesapeake parrot Head club, which participates in many community/charitable events. Ask him about his “hat” he wears to the concerts—it’s about 10 pounds of pure fun. His office area is decorated with lighthouses, palm trees, flamingos, and sharks. Andy if you stop by on Fridays, odds are that you’ll see him in one of his many Hawaiian shirts.

Tina started as a Risk Management Assistant on January 12, 2009—so, she is our newest employee. Her primary responsibilities are to work on Risk Management projects, assisting with meeting planning, doing some quality control for the Underwriting department such as the “going paperless project”, and learning the Administrative/Corporate functions of the organization. Tina is married with two children, her daughter Jordan is 11 years old, and her son Kirk, II is 5. Tina and her husband, Kirk, own a part-time photography business. They photograph a wide range of subjects, but they specialize in weddings and family portraits. Tina is also a Girl Scout Troop Leader; she leads an active Troop of 12 girls. Along with being an avid bike rider, both mountain and road, she enjoys any challenging outdoor activity. We’re excited about what she brings to the table and will be happy to have everyone meet her.
